Metal hoppers for farms

Metal hoppers are used on farms to store and feed granulated feed to animals. They are a key element of any livestock farm’s equipment, as they ensure that the animal receives its feed properly.

Its inverted cone shape is similar to a funnel, with sloping walls specifically designed to facilitate the descent of feed. The top is where the feed is loaded. At the base are trays with dispensers that ensure the animal finds feed.

The design of a hopper is structured in three parts:

• Outer casing (inverted cone shape)
• Discharge system (where the food will come out)
• Lid for the discharge system (which prevents food from continuing to be dispensed when we want to cut off the flow)

The most common material on the market for animal feed hoppers is that they are made of sufficiently durable and food-safe materials. That’s why stainless steel is commonly used, as it offers excellent performance, including:

• Great durability, since stainless steel is resistant to corrosion caused by humidity.
• High safety, since from a food perspective, it is a surface where bacteria cannot proliferate, guaranteeing the good condition of the food and preventing contamination by external pathogens.

Depending on the customer’s needs, hoppers can come in different sizes. They also come in different shapes, such as square or rectangular.

The types of dispensers can be auger, piston or portioned.

The most technologically advanced models have an automated system that regulates the unloading and dosing process.
